Red wine is produced from any number of red grape varietal types. The most common ones are listed in the menu on the right. Interestingly, all grape juice, even that which comes from red grapes, is initially white to light golden in color. It is only through prolonged contact with the grapes' skins that the juice obtains it's characteristic red color.

Red wines can vary from being light and fruity in style to being highly concentrated, robust, and tannic. This is largely determined by the grape varietals used to make the wine, but is also influenced by the winemaking process.
